We are regularly asked to come out and diagnose error codes on a customers appliance. All too often we conclude that the fault is with a feature on the appliance that they either don’t use or wasn’t even aware existed on their unit. An example of this would be a steam feature on a dryer. Many of the new dryers now have this feature. My advice to you is this; if you have never needed a steam feature and don’t feel you ever will, don’t purchase a unit with this option. What can happen is the components of this feature may still fail and the unit will be inoperable until the repair is made. This could be a costly repair for you on something that you may have never used. Because of the technology incorporated into the electronics the machine may be inoperable until the failed component is replaced, regardless of weather it is being used or not.
There are a lot of great features on today’s appliances that really are great. They make our lives simpler, they are interactive and lets face it; some of these features are just “cool” to use. Appliance are some of the major purchases we face in life, do your research and spend your hard earned money wisely.
